Where should one parent stay with two teenagers for a Gold Coast week?

My daughters want beach time and theme parks, and I am deciding whether a small but comfortable base needs a rental car.

    Give the teenagers a say in the mix of parks, shopping and downtime before selecting an area. A week can include rest days instead of consecutive expensive outings.
