What can I do on the Gold Coast besides theme parks?

For a change from the coast, look at a hinterland walk or scenic stop and check current track access and weather first. A hinterland day deserves its own travel time; it is easier to enjoy than adding it after a full beach and shopping itinerary.

Make one day about a beach neighbourhood: walk the foreshore, choose a patrolled swimming area when conditions suit, and leave time for a meal. Broadbeach, Burleigh Heads and Surfers Paradise have different atmospheres, so select one area rather than trying to visit all three in a morning.
