A good question.
A local answer.

Check public transport from the chosen address for any non-beach outings. If you want one Byron Bay drive, rent a car just for that day rather than paying for an idle vehicle all stay.

If your flight is very early, prepare bags and breakfast the night before. Confirm check-in deadlines and the rental return process rather than assuming the short drive is the only timing issue.

Map each building to a tram stop, supermarket and the part of Surfers you expect to visit. A small transport saving matters when you make the trip every day.

Choose by the activities you will actually do: theme-park transfers, beach mornings or evening dining. Four nights is long enough for a convenient base to matter.

Read recent family reviews about shade, lifeguards and noise, then compare the total price and cancellation terms. Ask the property how it handles younger siblings in shared play areas.

Ask university residences directly whether they offer public short stays during your exact dates. Student buildings may have eligibility or minimum-stay rules.

Compare hostels with private rooms, simple hotels and short-stay apartments by total fees and cancellation terms. Read recent safety and noise reviews.

Compare a dedicated beach club or public aquatic centre if the hotel says no. Book only through the venue's official channel.

Decide whether you value direct beach access or a quieter setting more. A flexible booking gives time to verify the details before committing.

Shortlist neighbourhoods by the restaurants and walks you want, then compare the exact room category. A hotel may have pools but no in-room tub in most rooms.

Compare the exact two-bedroom units, not only the building names. Look for recent reviews of cleanliness, lift waits, kitchen equipment and noise.

Filter for low-rise apartments or motels, then confirm the exact floor of the bookable room with the property. A low floor in a tower may still feel different from a small building.
